Thy went to a well 1km away or they would go to the river. They could maybe get 2 buckets. During rainy season, they would just put buckets outside and get sick. They used to have to wait in lines at 2 water sources. 6 am to 9 am would be spent waiting in line.

Previously, we were suffering from cholera. The clinic was far, and it was a “paying” hospital. It costs MK2000 just for transportation one way. We went to the hospital, and they charged MK 15,000. We would go maybe 3 to 4 times a month.

The Gift of TIME:

They make gardens and use to grow food during the famine. This is the first time to grow gardens. They are now growing okra, mustard seed, and pumpkins. They sell veggies and donuts. They think they will get more bricks from this water.

Families would divorce because of problems over water. Now, there is no more divorce or domestic violence.

All children go to school early and regularly.
