Stories / Quotes:

Families: 70 households from 4 villages = over 500 people
Water committee: 2 men and 8 women

“We used to draw water from two different water sources. The first was a pit in the ground that had frogs in it and was 1 km away. The second was drawing our drinking water from the mountain which had baboons and was 2 km away. We would sleep overnight on the mountain. Baboons and hyenas would break our pails. Our husbands would go with us to the mountains because it was so dangerous. We had to lock our kids in our houses and leave them overnight to go get water. Our kids stopped going to school altogether.”

They started gardening- pumpkin, tomatoes, and okra. This is used for feeding them and their family.

Some are starting businesses and village banks

“We are so thankful because we were failing to farm, but now we can eat. Now, our buckets are being saved from hyenas.”
