Transforming Lives Through Sanitation: The Impact of the Blossom Project at Mphatso School

We’re thrilled to announce the successful completion of the Blossom Project at Mphatso School!

This transformative initiative by Water Wells for Africa (WWFA) has significantly improved the school’s sanitation facilities, ensuring a healthier and more dignified learning environment for students.

Before this project, Mphatso School faced severe challenges due to the lack of proper sanitation. With only one temporary pit latrine for 341 students, many were forced to relieve themselves in the surrounding bushes, and teachers had to seek restroom facilities in nearby homes. Girls often missed school during their menstrual cycles due to the lack of a private and sanitary place to manage their menstrual hygiene, making it difficult for them to keep up with their education.

Now, thanks to WWFA generous donors, Mphatso School has their first-ever hygiene rooms for girls, additional toilets for boys, and improved facilities for staff. These vital changes have already had a profound impact—school enrollment has surged to 523 students, absenteeism has dropped, and students now have the resources they need to stay in school and pursue their dreams.

Join us in celebrating this incredible milestone! Check out the school’s transformation in photos and stories from the staff and students of Mphatso School and see how your support continues to change lives.
