School Attendance:

  • Before the Well: 449 girls, 325 boys = 773 total
  • After the Well: 520 girls, 403 boys = 923 total

Before the well, the school and surrounding communities faced severe challenges due to the lack of reliable clean water. For 14 years, they relied on a shallow community well about ½ kilometer away. However, this water source was not safe, leading to frequent cases of diarrhea and cholera. In 2023, the school tragically lost one student to cholera. The lack of clean water also impacted school attendance, hygiene, and the overall quality of education. The dropout rate was alarmingly high at 28%, and graduation rates were low at 63%.

Now, the installation of the new well has brought transformative change. School attendance has increased by over 150 students, with improved hygiene and sanitation practices boosting the learning environment. The school’s district standing is improving, and the dropout rate has plummeted to just 8%. Over 20 villages are benefiting from the well, extending its positive impact far beyond the school. New facilities and classrooms are being constructed to accommodate the growing number of students. The graduation rate has risen significantly to 85%, providing hope and opportunities for a brighter future.
