Stories / Quotes:
“There is one borehole a ten-minute walk from the school. The students and two local villages use that borehole where the water tastes salty. The Nanyanje borehole is delicious, and the local community also uses this one. This borehole will benefit a lot of people. Students must leave school and disrupt learning. Classroom attendance will improve. Hygiene and performance will improve. Student health, retention, graduation rate will all improve. Even the teachers are excited by the water well.”
Kenedy Steven, “Student retention was a great problem. There was a 25% drop out. Now retention rate has increased. Students need water to drink and for hygiene. They must bring their own bottles of water. Attendance has increased due to the borehole. There are transfer students coming because we have water. The boreholes will help with higher retention rates especially among female learners.”
