Stories/ Quotes:
Chair: Elipher Snoya, “My family has been here since 1986. This is the first clean water. We have struggled for so many years. We are getting clean water now. There is no more waterborne sickness and no more cholera. So many members of Parliament came looking for votes and promised to bring water. For over 36 years no one has kept their promises. WWFA is the only organization that has kept their promise. Four ladies went to Chipungu village where they were drilling and pleaded, “Please, we are also human beings. Come and see where we get water.”
Paul, Isaac, and Hendi drove as far as they could but walked about a mile through rocky terrain and crevices. Their need for water was very great and a top priority. It was late in the drilling season and seemed impossible to build a road before the rains came. Isaac and Paul told them, “If you work on the road, we will consider you for next year, We are willing to help. But the road must be built.” Paul said, “It was late in the year and we were not sure we could even reach their location.” Elipher said, “We will work on the road. We will build it in seven days.” Isaac replied, “Ok, call us when the road is built.” The WWFA team returned to Blantyre. Not long later they received a call, “The road is finished. It only took five days. We worked in the dark because it was the hot season.” WWFA came out and verified the road. Elipher confirmed, “Within weeks WWFA organized and mobilized. Now life is good.”
