Leave a Lasting Legacy of Clean Water

Planned Giving

Making a planned gift to Water Wells for Africa (WWFA) is a meaningful way to extend your commitment to clean water for generations to come.

By including WWFA in your estate plans, you can help ensure that rural communities in Africa continue to have access to safe, sustainable water long into the future. Your planned gift is more than a contribution—it’s a lasting expression of what you care about and the difference you want to make in the world.

How Planned Giving Can Benefit You

Potential tax benefits. Depending on the type of planned gift and your circumstances, you may receive significant tax advantages while reducing the tax burden on your estate or heirs.

Make a larger impact. A planned gift can allow you to make a meaningful contribution without affecting your current financial needs or lifestyle.

Protect your loved ones. Creating or updating your estate plan gives you the opportunity to provide for your family, protect your assets, and make charitable giving part of your overall plan.

Common Types of Planned Gifts

  • Bequest in Your Will or Trust
Leave a specific amount, percentage of your estate, or particular asset to WWFA through your will or revocable living trust.
  • Beneficiary Designation
Name WWFA as a beneficiary of all or a portion of an IRA, retirement plan, life insurance policy, bank account, or other financial account.
  • Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
If you are age 70½ or older, you may be able to make a tax-free charitable gift directly from your IRA to WWFA, subject to current IRS rules and annual limits.
  • Charitable Remainder Trust
Transfer assets to a trust that can provide income to you or other beneficiaries for a period of time, with the remaining assets eventually going to WWFA.
  • Charitable Lead Trust
Provide WWFA with income from assets for a specified period, after which the remaining assets are returned to you or passed to other beneficiaries.
  • Gifts of Appreciated Assets
Donate appreciated securities or certain other assets to potentially receive a charitable deduction and avoid capital gains tax on the donated appreciation, subject to applicable rules.

Your Legacy Can Help Bring Water to Those Who Need It Most

Whether your planned gift is large or small, it can help WWFA continue reaching rural communities where clean water can transform daily life.

If you already have an estate plan, adding WWFA may be as simple as updating your beneficiary designations or adding a bequest. If you do not yet have a will, creating one can help protect the people and causes you care about.

  • We encourage you to consult your attorney, financial advisor, or tax professional about your individual circumstances before making a planned gift.
