Stories / Quotes:
Families: 100
Water Committee: 4 men and 6 women
For the past 15 years, Chief Joseph Allon has watched Padzuwa struggle without clean water. Families relied on a distant borehole or the river—leaving children late for school and parents exhausted before the day even began.
“This is the first clean water in our history,” the women shared. “Our kids were arriving late to class because of the long walk and long lines.”
The men spoke about the toll it took on their health and dignity:
“The river water made us sick. We couldn’t bathe regularly—sometimes not at all. Now we bathe three times a day. We can sleep well, eat clean food, and we have more energy for the garden.”
Teachers told us that children were often sent home for tardiness, not lack of effort. But with the new well, they’re finally arriving on time. “We hope for good grades now,” parents said with pride.
Standing at the completed well, Kurt Dahlin reflected on the moment:
“You can feel the relief in this community. Clean water has changed their pace of life overnight.”
Padzuwa isn’t just healthier now—it’s hopeful. With more time, more strength, and kids in class where they belong, this village is stepping into a future they once thought was out of reach.
