Stories / Quotes:

Families: 95 households (approximately 500 people)
Water Committee: 4 men and 6 women

For years, families in Nkhoko relied on a shallow well near the Khombwe River, even though goats and cattle drank from the same water. Outbreaks of waterborne disease were frequent, and many households visited the clinic three to four times a week. Fights often broke out at the water point as women waited hours, starting at dawn, just to collect enough water for the day.

The new borehole—the second in the village—has ended these struggles. “Now I don’t need to store buckets in my home. I have safe, potable water nearby,” shared Enifa Paudala. Children now attend school regularly, families are healthy, and the community has time for farming and family life.

“This well has brought more than clean water,” said Chief Nkhoko. “It has restored peace, health, and dignity to our villages.”
