Stories / Quotes:

Students: 1,128 learners

Challenges Before the Water Well

  • Difficult Access to Water:
Before this new water source, students had to travel far to fetch water from a single borehole, which was not only distant but also resulted in denied access at times. Students had to wait for parents to collect water first.
  • Impact on Classes:
During break time, students would leave to fetch water, causing them to miss classes and be late. This impacted their learning performance significantly.
  • Hygiene Challenges:
The lack of accessible water also created hygiene problems at the school. Without water on-site, students struggled to wash their hands after using the toilet, contributing to poor sanitation.

Impact of the New Water Well

  • Access to Water for Students and Community:
With the new water well now located on the school grounds, students can easily access water without leaving the premises. This has made it possible for them to stay in class and not miss valuable learning time.
  • Improved Hygiene:
The school can now enforce proper hygiene practices, with students able to wash their hands after using the toilets, leading to better sanitation overall.
  • Positive Changes in School Operations:
Teachers and staff no longer have to worry about delayed meals or late classes caused by the lengthy water-fetching process. The ladies preparing porridge for the learners can now fetch water directly from the well, improving both timeliness and efficiency in meal preparation.
  • Benefits for the Community:
In addition to serving the school, the local community also benefits from the well, making life easier for everyone.

We are incredibly thankful for the generous donation of the Brian and Joelle Kelly Family Foundation. This well will continue to make a lasting difference in the lives of 1,128 students and the entire community.
