Before the borehole, villagers fetched water from distant rivers shared with animals, and cholera was common.

Dorothy Milanzi shared, “Cholera was a problem—but it has been eliminated.” Sylvia Zimpita Biliati added, “There was no dignity. We couldn’t do otherwise but survive. Now there is happiness in our families.” Leah Kafotokoza, age 70, said this is her first access to safe water since arriving in the village in 1981.

With the new well, men now share farming responsibilities, trust has been restored in families, and community projects are underway. Chairman Finiasi Kwamdera pointed to bricks and sand gathered for a new initiative: “Transformation has already begun.”

This well has brought health, dignity, and hope to Mankhwazi 2 Village.
