In Chitsulo, the arrival of clean water still feels unreal. “Pinch me—is this real?” the women said as they gathered around the new well, amazed that their community finally has safe water for the first time in its history.

For years, families depended on the Mizuza River, which flooded dangerously during the rainy season. Children risked their lives, and the water was never clean. Today, everything has changed. The newly elected women on the Water Committee are proud and excited to serve, and they look forward to training that will help them care for the well.

“Already the water is safe,” they shared. “Now we have dignity and water close by. We can get all the water we want.”

With water at home, household chores are easier. Families bathe regularly. Health has dramatically improved. And for the first time, children are going to school consistently—on time, clean, and ready to learn.

This is the beginning of a brighter future for Chitsulo. Clean water has brought safety, dignity, and hope.
