For generations, the people of Bwanasompho lived without clean water. Sickness from cholera was so severe that the local hospital once had to set up tents to handle the overflow of patients. “My son was sick with cholera for three days in the tent and two weeks in recovery,” remembered Liveness, a mother in the village.
Life has completely transformed since the borehole was installed. “We have crossed the Jordan into the Promise Land,” the villagers shared. For the first time, women no longer face domestic violence over water, children are healthy, and families are thriving.
School attendance has soared. Before the borehole, only 40% of students regularly went to class. Now, 90–100% of children attend, and more girls are enrolled than boys. Parents proudly told teachers, “We have a borehole in our village, which enables our children to attend school.”
With health restored and time saved, families are growing vegetables, molding bricks, baking donuts, and running small businesses. As Chief Elia Moses explained: “Our children are going to school regularly and have hope for a brighter future.”
