–2013 update–
There are over 1000 people in Maone are using hand dugs pits. Cholera is very prevalent.
Previous Status:
- Women have to go as early as 4 A.M. to get water and they have to go in groups and there they also queue.
- Water is contaminated and carries diseases and many people have been having cholera and diarrhea.
- People walk for over 30 minutes to draw water and also walk for over 30 minutes with a bucket of water on the head and perhaps with a child carried at the back.
- Ladies have to sit down atleast twice on the way inorder to take a break because they can’t keep on walking with a heavy bucket on the head for over 30 minutes.
