Thank you to all who made a holiday or year-end do Thank you to all who made a holiday or year-end donation to help install the next water well!

If you haven’t had a chance yet, it’s not too late (Hotlink in our profile bio):

When you invest in a WWFA water well, this is the kind of development that can happen! Hundreds of students’ school life will be improved – no more scorching sun beating down on them. They can meet inside one of their new classrooms made with WWFA bricks!!
Water is the element that allows bricks to be made Water is the element that allows bricks to be made, and it is the foundational “building block” for life and good health. The simple gift of water is already generating huge benefits for everyone in and around M’bawa School. Just look at what happened:

• Student enrollment has increased from 215 before the water well to 316 as of this posting – a whopping 47% growth!
• Student attendance, retention, and graduation rates are higher than ever.
• Children are no longer getting sick with waterborne diseases.
• Kids no longer leave class to fetch water for drinking or handwashing.
• Everyone in the local communities near this new water well has clean, close water available to them – thanks to our united partnership in life.

It’s a beautiful thing when local communities work together with WWFA donors! As the results above show you, every aspect of life is improved.

We’ll be sharing the rest of the story here over the next several days, or feel free to read all about it now!

Once the water started flowing at M’bawa School, Once the water started flowing at M’bawa School, the community was motivated to use some of the well’s runoff water to further develop the school’s infrastructure. Their plan? Mix the water with local dirt to create bricks. These bricks would be used to build two new classrooms, two houses for teachers, and a staff office.

And build bricks they did! This year, within three months, they molded 45,000 bricks (you read that right! 45,000!) which will create the first new school block. They plan to expand M’bawa School into a full primary school, adding grades seven and eight.

The beauty of installing water wells on school pro The beauty of installing water wells on school property is that they don’t just benefit students and staff. The surrounding villages are welcome to come to pump water and fill their buckets, too.

So, the drillers got to work on the M’bawa School property. And thankfully, they hit water!

In late 2021, M’bawa School in Makokola village In late 2021, M’bawa School in Makokola village, received the gift of water from WWFA.

Before the water well was installed, Osman Ligomeka, a teacher at M’bawa School since its inception told us, “Students have to leave class every day and walk two miles to the river (for water). Unfortunately, it dries up in the dry season.”

Can you imagine having to constantly hunt for water for over 200 kids?

Our team learned that M’bawa School had grown to 215 students since starting in 2018.

Unfortunately, after three years of operation they still only had one fully enclosed structure and a single thatched classroom for shade! You can see the photos below.

Most teaching and activities were conducted outdoors. The teachers worked sacrificially at sharing limited resources and rotating their classes through the two coveted areas, but these kids certainly deserve better!

Have you heard the phrase, “Healthy things grow? Have you heard the phrase, “Healthy things grow?”

It’s a saying that, in our experience – is actually true!

We have an uplifting example of this saying to share with you, a story about a WWFA water well that has brought about a transformational wonder of abundant growth and development we never would have dreamed of…until it actually happened.

August is "Make a Will Month"!

Despite the fact that having a will is very important, many people never get around to drafting it, saying they don’t have time to do it, wanted to do it but never got around to it, or don’t like the idea of preparing for their death. Many people think that unless you’re wealthy, you don’t need a will—but that’s far from the truth!

In order to make this easy for you and ensure that people in Africa will continue to receive water wells into the future: We invite you to check out this free website where you can create your will in just a few minutes! You’ll have an opportunity to add a bequest for your favorite nonprofits. We sure hope Water Wells for Africa is one of them! WWFA’s Federal ID number is: 36-4636718. Happy World Water Day!

We've been sharing with you about the life of Suwema. Yesterday, you saw the hole in the ground where she used to get water. But once your WWFA team verified the situation, with the help of WWFA donors, we installed a brand new water well!

Now it’s all smiles that tell a story of gratitude from Suwema and all the people of her village. They are so thankful for the precious gift of a water well which is transforming their lives.

Please donate any gift -- however big or small -- to give other women like Suwema a reason to smile!

We told you about Suwema and her difficult life wi We told you about Suwema and her difficult life without clean, close water. Recently, our Malawi team followed Suwema to her and her village’s water source. Our team verified that this source was woefully inadequate.

Suwema used to trek almost a mile to get to this water that's a shallow ditch along the river!

The problems that come from not having a healthy and abundant water source are many. Not only is there the problem of time spent getting to and from the water point, the water is not clean so many health issues arise. There are bigger problems such as delayed community development like building houses, schools, and other structures (water is needed to make bricks).

Tomorrow, we’ll let you know what happened to Suwema and Mteleleka Village!

We want to celebrate the benefits of providing wat We want to celebrate the benefits of providing water & changing lives through WWFA by sharing with you the encouraging story of 30-year-old Suwema from Mteleleka-Zale village.

When we met her, things weren’t so great. She told us that she was always short of time for household chores due to the amount of time spent fetching water. She was sad, too, because she couldn’t bathe as often as she liked. In the West, we don’t have these problems…

Stay tuned and we’ll show you where she used to get her water!
